 Form & Function

Project 1: Form and Function

This project challenged students to implement the basic Architectural concept that form follows function. In the assignment we were required to design several prototypes, ultimately leading us to a final design, based off of real, non moving bridges. This called for an object, measuring 30'x40' to pass through the bridge with zero complications. Transformation was key in this assignment and each student was required to document the creative process.

The mechanism that I have designed incorporates the hose reel concept. The cables are reeled in using pulleys at higher access points on the bridge, allowing for the bridge to fold open.
